T-ara and 2NE1 confirmed themselves as the best groups on music charts this year.
On December 28, the leading Korean music website, Melon, reported this year’s overall and download charts.
According to the charts, T-ara’s “Roly Poly” swept top rankings in the field of download and streaming, placing itself no.1 on both overall and download charts. The group has been dearly loved this year with its fun, retro style music and easy-to-follow choreography, making a bond of sympathy with different generations.
The second place of the annual chart went to Park Myung Soo and G-Dragon’s “I Cheated from West Coast Expressway Song Festival of MBC’s Infinite Challenge. The song was greatly supported by original fans ofInfinite Challenge, along with the synergy effect caused by appearance of G-Dragon and Park Bom on featuring. It was for sure ranked second on the overall and download charts.
2NE1, which drew attention not only in Korea but also abroad, ranked third with its song “I Am The Best,” followed by B2ST’s “On Rainy Days.”
The fifth ranking belongs to Leessang’s “Turned Off the TV,” showing off its potential of hip-hop music in the midst of “idol” singers. Sistar and Miss A, which led popularity of girl groups in the first half of the year, each ranked seventh and tenth on the chart.
4Men’s “Once While Living” showed off its potential as a ballad group by ranking on eighth. IU’s “Good Day” received many Koreans’ love at the beginning of the year and showed off its popularity as a soloist by ranking ninth.
The group that had the most hit songs this year is girl group 2NE1. “I Am The Best,” “Ugly,” “Lonely,” and “Hate You” all ranked in top 50 of the overall chart, in the rankings of third, sixth, sixteenth, and twenty-seventh. Park Bom’s song “Don’t Cry” was also ranked fifteenth, making in total of five songs ranked in the chart.
The album with the most sales is the one of West Coast Expressway Song Festival of Infinite Challenge. All of its songs have been loved and ranked in top 10 of the download chart. It is also known to have brought the best outcome among the albums released from variety shows. The second place of download chart went to Lessang’s seventh album, “AsuRa BalBalTa,” and GD & T.O.P’s official first album ranked third, confirming Big Bang’s popularity once again.
