B.A.P, a promising new boy group for 2012, has released their debut teaser as a TV commercial on terrestrial channels, which is quite unusual.
On December 30, TS Entertainment, B.A.P’s agency, announced, “B.A.P, a new boy group consisting of six members including Bang Yong Gook and Zelo, will release their debut teaser commercial at half-time before the second part of SBS, KBS, and MBC’s Music Festivals start. Through the teaser commercial, they will celebrate the end of this year and promise to meet again in 2012.”
In 2010, TVXQ, one of the most popular boy groups, tried this kind of teaser commercial on terrestrial channels before their comeback and received favorable reviews from the general public. However, this kind of marketing was thought to be inappropriate for new artists because it costs too much for production and broadcasting.
However, B.A.P’s agency says, “TS Entertainment wanted to make a chance to show B.A.P, a new boy group we are ambitiously launching, to as many people as possible before their official debut. This TV commercial is also for the large showcase of B.A.P, which will take place in Jangchung Gymnasium on January 28 with 3000 audiences attending.”
Especially, this commercial shows the six members with a specially formulated supersized robot, which is 4m tall and weighs 200kg, for background. The teaser is attracting attention because its images look like part of a blockbuster film.
Bang and Zelo are currently performing as a unit group with their song, “Never Give Up.” They also attended the red carpet event of the 2011 SBS Music Festival, which took place in KINTEX on December 29.
