Actress Song Hye Kyo shed tears at the 2011 Moviewomen Awards Ceremony after receiving the Best Acting Award. At 2011 Moviewomen Awards that took place at Anguk-dong’s Cine Code Sunje on December 15 at 7:30 p.m, Song received the Best Acting Award with her acting in the movie Today. Song, who has been abroad for her schedule, arrived in Korea that morning and attended the event.
Even though Song knew that she will receive the award beforehand, she was moved to tears on stage. She expressed her appreciation to her acquaintances who have always looked out for her, and stated that she is extremely glad to receive her first award.
Previously in 2007, Song was nominated as the best actress by acting in the movie Hwang Jin, but couldn’t attend the ceremony due to her schedule that was held abroad. This award was especially significant because it was her first movie award that she received by herself, and because it was given by her fellow movie-women. The award encouraged and comforted Song because the movie was at a slump despite Song’s enthusiastic acting and message that she tried to tell through the movie.
On a lighter note, MC Park Cheol Min asked her where she would go if the Blue Dragon Awards andMoviewomen Awards are held at the same time. Song gave a good laugh by saying, “No comment.”
In Lee Jung Hyan director’s movie, Today, Song plays the role of a documentary producer who forgives the culprit who killed her fiance in a hit-and-run. She attracted attention with her improved acting.
This award was significant because netizens and moviewomen chose the candidates themselves. It is said that Song showed off her calm yet profound acting and certainly conveyed the message ‘forgiveness’ to the viewers.
The host of the event stated, “I hope to encourage her to continue her profound and deep acting with this award. We all support her and look forward to her improvements.”
