Brazilian media sources cover a first K-pop concert in South America

Brazil, a country of passion, is heated up by K-pop singers.
Cube Entertainment’s artists, including B2ST, 4Minute, and G.Na, visited South America for the first time on December 13 (local time) for United Cube Concert in Brazil, sponsored by M-live, a global concert brand.
A major Brazilian daily newspaper Estado showed great interest by covering K-pop news on the front page.
The newspaper reports, “They are already highly popular on YouTube globally. The popularity of K-pop has already exceeded that of the world pop.
It also says, “A boom in Asian culture started from Japan is now moved to Korea. This concert will make the popularity of K-pop spread all over South America.”
At a press interview, which took place before the concert started, was crowded with nearly 100 reporters from major Brazilian public TV networks, daily newspapers, and magazines.
A spokesperson of CJ E&M, a producer of the concert, said, “We had a hard time because there were so many media sources that wanted an exclusive interview although it was a short press interview, which was about an hour and a half long.”
Globo TV’s Fantastico, the biggest public TV network in Brazil nicknamed as Brazilian people’s TV network, has announced that they are going to air a special episode for United Cube Concert.
It was Cube artists’ first visit to Brazil. However, the Brazilian media sources had so much information about the artists and surprised the Korean staffs by understanding the globalization of K-pop along with such profound questions as strategies for entering the South American market and competitiveness of K-pop as a global issue.
United Cube Concert in Brazil was held on December 14 at 7 p.m. (local time) with about 5000 audiences attending the concert.
