You cannot believe that he flew from the other side of the world to rock another K-Pop night in Singapore? That’s right, the talented Brazillian who is our hero in K-Pop world, DJ MASA, came back to Singapore to spin another one amazing night, 100% pure K-Pop madness! If it wasn’t for the fans and MASAyians (official MASA fans), he wouldn’t be able to come to Singapore to create another storm!
Korea.com’s journo Rice caught up with him once again after 8 months from his first-ever successful party in Singapore and he fills us what’s new and upcoming as we caught up with him for a chat!
Welcome back to Singapore! What’s busy for you during the 8 months apart from the last and today’s show?
It’s so good to be back, Singapore! It’s been an amazing journey for me to improve myself, learn, and just making and creating new things to put the creative force together to bring better K-Pop mashups on by site. I finally got my own set which I brought here, so forget about the first party; this is a totally new DJ MASA spinning out live for the K-pop lovers out here. I was busy preparing up till’ 4AM today just to finish new mashup creations. This is my most craziest works yet to finish 6 new mashups in 2 days! If it wasn’t for my parents who have been such amazing supporters throughout my passion. Without them, my music will be passionless and I won’t be here.
Goodness! So we’re the first crowd to hear this new mashups!
That’s right, I’m particular about everything and I wanted to make everything all perfect. I’ve been listening to a ton of K-Pop songs; I have to be in the know of what’s new, what’s the trend, being absolutely immersed in the realm of K-Pop. I know I enjoy it too as a fan but this is an extra effort.
And I know that you recently went to the CUBE Concert in Brazil…
I have never expected this to happen this fast! It was such an amazing experience and now I know that from this event, I am a pure fanboy. A total fanboy when it comes to concerts. I never knew I was such one. [Laughs]
That’s a confession, indeed. Then it’s your second round in Singapore, and we’ve practically went everywhere around the town! What is the new experience this time in Singapore for you then?
Yeah we have conquered Singapore already! This time, I was more of resting and preparing, like I’ve told you before to finish out the new creations, which isn’t out yet on my site but I would premiere it for everyone for one track hopefully by the end of next week (You better watch that out Int’l MASAyians! -Rice). I went to new clubs, but fewer, and also met you at Butter Factory.
Other than that, Herbert of Jigasia who’s always with me keeps on bringing me all kinds of food still, so I had porridge for the first time. Interestingly it is similar to a Brazilian dish back home for medicinal purposes and I heard porridge is also eaten for when you’re sick.
Finally, your exciting next holiday trip: Seoul! What will be the first thing you’re going to do as a fan?
Before that starts, I need to get some winter clothes because I seriously have none! After I’ve done by shopping I’ll be visiting all the TV stations trying to get tickets for the music shows, Countdown, Music Bank, Inkigayo, whatever there is, and it’s going to be the X’mas special next week so I’ve come at the right time and place!
Truly standing in his belief and what he loves most, DJ MASA is certainly garnering attention to greater heights, recently releasing his special collaboration with Super Junior Shindong in a Shins Family Remix!
