2NE1 receives fervent responses at the New York’s Best Buy Theater

YG Entertainment announced on December 13 that 2NE1 has successfully completed its first US performance through the MTV IGGY’s Best New Band in the World Concert held at 4:00 p.m.on December 12 at the Best Buy Theater, New York Times Square.

As the winner selected by global music fans as the best emerging band, 2NE1 was honorably invited to stand on stage of the New York Times Square concert on which big-name stars have stood: Madonna, Lady Gaga and Britney Spears.

2NE1’s Fans greeted the girl group with hearty cheers even before the concert began, and the cheer reached its peak when 2NE1 started singing debut song “Fire.”

Following “Fire,” 2NE1 performed with “Can’t Nobody” and “Lonely,” which drove the acclimations of about 2000 fans at its peak.

After completing the performance, 2NE1 received the MTV IGGY crown for Best New Band.

2NE1 expressed their feelings by saying, “When we saw a large number of people cheering for us, we were really happy. It was an extremely pleasurable experience to share our songs with people of different languages.”

The 2NE1’s performance was delivered live via the electronic display board in the heart of Times Square, New Yorkfor New Yorkers and through the Internet for fans across the world.

2NE1 ranked top in the vote called the 2011 Best New Band in the World held by MTV IGGY for six weeks from early October to mid-November. That’s why the girl group was given the honor to stand on stage of the concert.

Besides 2NE1, the final list of candidates for New Best Band includes musicians from ten countries such as Ghostpoet, Gyptian, Skrillex and Yua.

This vote was very meaningful to 2NE1. The details of the vote show that the proportion of Korean fans’ votes given to 2NE1 is not that significant, which indicates that overseas fans played a pivotal role in making 2NE1 the winner.

Someone from MTV IGGY says, “As a whole new type of a global music star, 2NE1 deeply touched us. Beyond linguistic, cultural backgrounds, they showed us their distinctively vigorous passion and entertaining talents. Their unique style stands out as well.”

2NE1 is expected to returns to Korea on December 14.
