Psy Is Flying High As The New Face Of Asiana Airlines

Asiana Airlines, one of the two major airlines in South Korea, has endorsement deals with a lot of very high profile Korean celebrities including Premiere League soccer star Park Ji Sung, former MLB pitcher Chan-Ho Park, and professional golfers KJ Choi and Yong-Eun Yang. In January of this year, they signed an endorsement deal with YG Entertainment, the record label and talent agency behind K-Pop mega-stars Big Bang, 2NE1, and, of course, Psy.

As part of the agreement, Asiana will be the official air travel provider for its artists to and from events both domestically and abroad, a service that will be free of charge. In return, YG offered to display the company's logo at their international concert and events.

Big Bang had previously signed an additional agreement to be the official endorser for one of Asiana Airlines' subsidiaries, Jeju Air, which provides flights between the Korean mainland and the southern island province.

On April 8, Psy signed on to be the honorary ambassador for the airline with Asiana offering the world-famous rapper top class tickets on all of their routes for the entire year. Psy then agrees to actively support and promote the company's events and participate in public relations and marketing, specifically through the use of his social networks like Facebook and Twitter.

The partnership was an obvious choice. Since he made it big with the hit single "Gangnam Style," Psy has been to credit for an massive increase in tourism to South Korea. Asiana, too, has dedication to promoting South Korea as a tourism hot spot and hope to provide transport to those riding the 'hallyu wave' all the way to the country.

Young-Doo Yoon, CEO and President of Asiana Airlines, remarked on the partnership by saying, "We are very happy to have Psy as our honorary ambassador further closing our ties with him since the event celebrating the 'Change for Good' campaign collected 7 billion won in New York, in October, last year. We hope that this honorary ambassador appointment can help Asiana contribute to K-Pop's growth and development, and further promote both Psy and Asiana's brand."

Psy was also excited by the agreement, thanking the airline for their support and promising to "actively make a career all over the world this year."
