T.O.P Prepared for Solo Album in November: "As Powerful as "The Commitment"

BIG BANG’s T.O.P (real name Choi Seung Hyun), will be targeting cinema screens and stages at the same time in November. On Nov 6, he will be returning as an actor for the first time in the new movie ‘The Commitment’ in 3 years since ‘Into the Fire’, while in mid-November he is scheduled to make a comeback as a singer with his new album.

At an interview held at a coffee shop in Jongro Samcheong-dong on Oct 30, just before the release of his new film, Choi Seung Hyun officially announced, “At the end of January last year, I finished filming the movie and started preparing the album slowly,” and added, “And I recently completed shooting the music video as well.”

The news on T.O.P’s solo album release is the first one in 3 years since his last single in June 2010, titled ‘Turn It Up.’ His debut film as an actor ‘Into the Fire’ was also released in the same month as his previous single, so he appeared before the fans as an actor and musician at the same time 3 years ago as well.

Earlier this year, before T.O.P’s announcement, Daesung also delivered the news on his first album release in Japan, along with Seungri and G-Dragon releasing theirs in South Korea. On Nov 1, Taeyang, who is handed the baton this time, will be returning with an album. Thus T.O.P will be the last one to wrap up the five members’ solo activities.

About his new song, T.O.P commented, “I was deeply inspired by the film I was involved in,” and continues, “My song will be as powerful as the film ‘Commitment’, with an aggressive and strong feel to it.” On his music video, directed by Seo Hyun Seung, he commented, “there are scenes that originated from films which are parodied in my own way, and other scenes that are very unique. Some may think it bizarre, or grotesque.”

The new film involving T.O.P, titled the ‘Commitment’, is a story about a 19-year-old boy accepting the offer to become a killer to save his only sister. T.O.P plays the role of the main character Myung Hoon, and he worked with other actors like Han Ye Ri and Kim Yoo Jung. Taeyang’s brother Dong Hyun Bae is also one of the actors in the film.
