Sugar’s Ayumi tweets a disappointed response to Hwang Jung Eum’s story

Former Sugar member Ayumi (now known as ICONIQ in Japan) is causing quite the stir with her recent tweet, as many believe that they were directed to fellow Sugar member Hwang Jung Eum.
On January 12th, Ayumi tweeted in Korean, “You weren’t given a mouth to curse others off. Saying things like thank you, sorry, or I love you makes you a lot prettier“.
Netizens believe that Ayumi was responding to a story Hwang Jung Eum shared on the 9th through KBS’s ‘Star Life Theatre‘. Hwang said that she felt bitter over Sugar being called “Ayumi and friends“, meaning that Ayumi was often given the spotlight at the cost of the other members. This eventually led to Hwang Jung Eum’s decision to quit the group.
Netizens commented, “I hope that you don’t get too bothered from this” and “I could think of one person when I read this“.
[Update]
Due to the overwhelming perception that Ayumi was addressing Hwang Jung Eum, Ayumi decided to post another tweet to clarify that she was not referring to her former Sugar bandmate.
I was surprised when I saw all the articles,” said Ayumi. “[The outburst] was because of all the repeated assumptions making things like this seem true, which made me tired. But I’m saying this to all our Sugar fans who are always supporting us. What I said wasn’t for Jung Eum. I’m sorry for all the confusion!
