Big Bang’s new EP “Alive” beat out Pink Floyd and Estelle to reach the fifth spot on the iTunes top 10. The six-song EP, released on Wednesday, also went to No. 4 on iTunes’ Canadian chart.
Last year, the band set a new record by going to No. 6 on the iTunes album chart in the U.S. with its fourth EP, becoming the first Korean act to reach the U.S. iTunes top 10.
In Korea, too, the new album has topped various online music charts since its release two days ago.
Ahead of its launch, the EP gathered attention from promotional efforts that positioned all six songs as title tracks.
The first of the six songs to be released was “Blue,” which was released one week ahead of the album. The song went to No. 1 on various online music charts such as Melon, MNet and Naver Music on the morning that it was released online.
Big Bang will kick off its world tour in Seoul on Saturday and will then make its way through 16 countries in Asia, the Americas and Europe.
