Students from MIT visited Korea’s leading entertainment company, YG Entertainment, and attended a lecture regarding the secrets behind leading the Korean Wave.
On March 31, YG revealed that they held a lecture about the secrets behind leading the K pop craze, with 50 foreign students from MIT Business School, Sloan. The lecture was held at YG’s company building in Hapjung, Seoul on March 30.
The students visited Korea as a part of the ‘Korea Japan Study Tour.’
On that day, a representative of YG introduced their management philosophy as ‘Familism’ and pointed out, “The strong bondage between the artists in the agency and our self-productive system generates high quality contents.
He explains, “We were able to become the ‘trend leader’ because we came up with innovative approaches and boldly invested in various fields such as music, fashion, and music video.”
According to YG, the students had a tour around the company; they asked questions regarding YG’s system, and what plans they have for the current artists.
Robby Huang, a student who attended this lecture, says, “I am amazed how the producer at work supervises over multiple albums yet come up with fresh and new music every time. Through this trip, I was able to feel how K pop is globally spreading.”
