2NE1's Dara Claims She Still Can't Get A Date Nearly A Year After Her Record Label Lifted Her 'Dating Ban'
As part of their contract with K-pop record label YG Entertainment, the four members of the girl group 2NE1 are contractually obligated to not date anyone for their first year, in what is known as a "dating ban."
Yet 28-year-old 2NE1 singer Dara, whose real name is Park Sandara, claims that despite the fact her dating ban ended last year, she's still having no luck with her love life.
"The dating ban at the agency has been lifted, but nothing's changed," Dara told the host of the South Korean television program "Yoo Hee Yeol's Sketchbook" on Friday.

"[Label] boss Yang Hyun Suk told us to show him my future boyfriend. He said he would kill him. I don't know if he actually wants us to date or not."
The studio audience exploded in laughter at the Dara's revelation regarding the YG Entertainment CEO.
Host Yoo Hee Yeol pointed out that Yang was probably just feeling a paternal sense of protection for Dara an artist on his label.
"I think Yang Hyun Suk feels like he is your father, thinking of [2NE1] as his daughters," Yoo said.
The host also assured Dara that the right man will come around soon.
"Your person is somewhere near you, don't look too far for him," he said.
Dara also revealed her desire to do a solo album of acoustic material.
"If I could get a chance, I would like to create an acoustic album that would give me the nickname 'Goddess of Hongdae,'" she said.
The singer then shocked the crowd by bringing out an acoustic guitar and performing a solo version of the 2NE1 son "Lonely."
The "Yoo Hee Yeol's Sketchbook" appearance wasn't the first time Dara has spoken out about her inability to get find a boyfriend since her dating ban was lifted.
At comeback showcase last month, to commemorate the release of the new 2NE1 album "Falling In Love," the 28-year-old star admitted her newly liberated social life hasn't gone the way she hoped it would.
"I kind of pity myself," Dara said, according to the website allkpop.
"Last year, I had the ban, so I thought, 'I have to listen well to the CEO.' But now that it's lifted, it feels even weirder...even though I'm allowed to date now."
