SM Entertainment's rookie group EXO received the "Best Rookie" in the first half of the year by Japan's largest music store Tower Records.
Japan's Tower Records reported the results for the "K-Pop Lover! Award" which combines internet users' vote and album sales in Japan from January of this year till June.

Rookie group EXO that made a grand entrance in the music industry is already receiving a feverish reaction in Japan as the group won the rookie category in album sales and placed first in internet users votes.
EXO garnered a lot of interest as the highly anticipated new rookie group with not only handsome appearances but also powerful performance and vocals. Their debut album MAMA recorded over 100,000 copies sales in just two months. The grand total of the album placed the group to become the biggest selling rookie in 2012 so far.
The success of the group is no surprise as the boys held extensive online promotions for 100 days before their debut, along with various commercial deals shortly after their debut.
Many are interested in following the group's success even in Japan as they continue their journey to spread K-Pop.
