Most Influential Leader of the K-Pop Sensation: TVXQ

On March 14th of 2012, as soon as TVXQ released their album, "Still", in Japan the album placed No.1 on the Oricon Daily Single Chart that same exact day. Their album received continuous support from Japan and placed on top of the Oricon Weekly Single Chart. It was TVXQ's tenth time placing No.1 on the Oricon Charts for their singles that have been released in Japan.

TVXQ is the first non-Japanese artist whose singles have placed No.1 on the Oricon Weekly Chart. In their 45-year-long history, since the birth of Oricon Charts Ranking system in January of 1968, TVXQ was the first and only foreign artist placed No.1 on the Oricon Weekly Chart with 10 singles. TVXQ beat their own record of being the most popular K-Pop star as well as creating history in the history of Oricon Charts.

In addition, it is TVXQ's 26th time placing in Top 10 on the Oricon Weekly Single Chart since their 7th single 'Sky' that was released in August of 2006. TVXQ is the first non-Japanese artist ever to place No.1 on the Oricon Weekly Chart. TVXQ's explosive popularity is continuously growing in Japan which has proven TVXQ to be one of the most popular artists in all of Japan.

Even after all the complications and hardships, TVXQ resurrected into an even more powerful group.

Like a Comet, They Appeared
'DongBangShinKi' (Korean pronounciation) means, 'The Awakening of the God of East'. They were given the meaningful name to acheive success in Korea and to widen their footsteps to enter the music industry of all countries in the world. In Japan, TVXQ use the name Tohoshinki,  people in China call them Tong Vfang Xien Qi and they are known as TVXQ to their English speaking fans.

TVXQ made their first appearance on December 26th 2003 at BoA's concert in Korea with their powerful a capella and mind blowing chorus. All members of TVXQ were main vocals and were highly recognized for their singing even as teenagers. Their official debut was in 2004 with their album 'Hug' and livened up the idol 'pool' in K-Pop. TVXQ had a couple hundred thousand fans soon after their debut. Today, there 800,000 TVXQ Euro-Fan Club members; which even set a record in the Guinness, Book of World Records.

Japanese Debut: Starting From Rock Bottom
TVXQ did not expect nor want the same top star treatment they received in Korea when they first went to Japan. From a cable show that received less than 1% viewing rate to shows in the middle of the night, TVXQ members used their imperfect Japanese skills to get their name known, they began performing in front of small audience where the stage was barely big enough to fit all the members. Whenever and wherever, TVXQ members yelled out 'We'll Try Our Best!' and it became like a trademark. From there TVXQ began expanding their influences by beginning their Asia Tour next year.

Pain & Progress
TVXQ, the most popular group in Asia, was especially popular in Japan than in any other Asian country. Out of 30 singles they released, they placed No.1 on the Oricon Single Weekly Chart 8 times. In the midst of the TVXQ hype, they are faced with a sudden crisis and decide to pause their TVXQ career in April of 2010.

During their break, three members of TVXQ decide to leave the team after a disagreement with the entertainment company. In October of 2010, the three members release a new album as a brand new group. Even during the long and tiring legal battle between the 3 members and SM Entertainment, TVXQ fans waited for their return. Meanwhile, the remaining 2 members of TVXQ were unable to perform as TVXQ regardless of their unaffected popularity for over a year.

Out of five members, three members had left and only two remained. The situation put a big question mark on the future of TVXQ. If TVXQ (with two members) was unable to maintain their popularity, it would only mean that the remaining two members woul also have to separate. In a recently released movie 'I Am', TVXQ members revealed, 'We were so afraid because we were not sure our fans would be waiting for us.'

In December of 2010, SM Entertainment released that they will protect the group TVXQ and that the group will continue moving forward with the two remaining members.

TVXQ; Group that went from 5 Members to 2
After their 4th album Spell-Mirotic, exactly two years and three months later, TVXQ's new album released in January 26th of 2011 "Why? (Keep Your Head Down)" sold 231,000 copies in Japan and ranked No.1 on the Oricon Single Weekly Chart. The album was 2nd most popular for a non-Japanese album. No.1 most popular non-Japanese album  was, of course, TVXQ's album BREAK OUT that was released in January of 2010 with 256,000 in album sales.
And so, in December 26th of 2011, the group TVXQ celebrated their 8th Anniversary.

To add to their success, their influential role in Korea, Japan and countries in Southeast Asia TVXQ will continue to widen their horizon worldwide.
