The teenage rookie, Lee Hi, ranked number one on the music program Inkigayo with her new song ‘Rose’ from her first regular album.
Her victory came on April 14 at Inkigayo in Seoul SBS broadcasting center. The teenage artist defeated Infinite, the popular idol band who had been at the top for two consecutive weeks.
At the show Lee Hi put on a collaborated performance with CL from 2NE1, the member of the girl group from the same entertainment agency. CL showed off her rapping skills with Lee Hi.
Lee Hi thanked CL “for staying up all night planning the stage” and her parents and fans “for supporting” her to become the top.
Lee Hi, as an encore song, chose Psy’s Gentleman – she danced his ‘arrogant dance’ with CL and other dancers.
Her new song ‘Rose’ is the first title song from her album, which is a fruit borne by YG Entertainment’s producer Teddy and Song Baek-kyung from 1Tym. ‘Rose’ is an R&B House song that describes love as both beautiful and hurtful, just like a pretty rose with thorns.
