G-Dragon revealed “Clothes, women, music, etc. I like when I see pretty things.”
Big Bang′s leader G-Dragon held a press roundtable for his exhibition PEACEMINUSONE: Beyond the Stage, which will soon show at the Seoul Museum of Art, on June 8.
On showing his exhibition, G-Dragon said, “When I said I was showing an exhibition at the Seoul Museum of Art, there were probably a lot of people who were curious about what it was going to be about or even thought it was strange.”
“I am a musician and a popular singer,” said G-Dragon. “I realized a lot while working with diverse artists in the genre of music. We can produce a synergy effect by sharing with each other what another person might not have, and I think that I personally had a lot of those experiences. Based on that and through this opportunity, I wanted to create an exhibition with diverse artists that enables one to see modern art from a wide perspective that crosses pop culture and modern art. I don′t know if it′ll happen, but this is an exhibit that began because I wanted to be able to introduce great photographers and to enable the public, who may think art is difficult, to approach it more easily. I hope that′s how you see it.”
G-Dragon continued, “I learned a lot about things I didn′t know while working with Korean photographers, in particular, and it was an opportunity for me to widen my perspective. I′m really thankful.”
“However, I am standing here only as a medium. I′d like it if many people would use me to enter the art world and have fun looking. I still don′t know much about art, but my fantasies concerning art are personally big. Clothes, women, music, I like when I see something pretty. I like when I see something cool. Because this exhibit began from that, I had fun working with the photographers. It opens tomorrow, and I hope a lot of people come and enjoy it.”
The exhibition will cross the boundary of music into fashion and design to express G-Dragon′s cultural vision in the language of modern art and intersect genres. It will also lower the barrier of modern art, enabling people of all ages to resonate with the familiar subject matter.
G-Dragon′s Seoul Museum of Art and YG Entertainment joint exhibition PEACEMINUSONE: Beyond the Stage will open on June 9 and run until August 23 at the Seoul Museum of Art.
