Releasing their debut single Never Let You Go on the 11th of January, 2AM is ready to conquer the insular country.
On the single album are three songs in Japanese including “Never Let You Go,” which were already hits in the domestic market. It is said that the romantic sensibility of 2AM still stands out although the songs were recorded in a different language.
What makes their debut noticeable is that they are a ballad-singing group, unlike most of their contemporaries of K-Pop world. Whether the ballad-singing group will be a success is in the limelight while dance is a genre that forms mainstream in K-Pop.
Fortunately, conditions seem to be favorable for them. Japanese media are showing a huge interest in the “lonely” ballad-singing group. Formerly, 2AM saw the green light to their debut in Japan on January 4, when they topped the Tower Record Chart, one of the influential music charts in Japan. It is also good news that they sold out the tickets for the 2PM Tour in Japan within 10 minutes of its opening. The tour begins on January 24.
The five members’ ambition is also remarkable. They have been putting all their effort to their debut in Japan for the past one and a half year since their last album in October, 2010.
Also, they have been leaning Japanese earnestly in order to express the lyrics in Japanese properly. This could mean they are getting ready to compete with native singers in Japan.
A source says, “They invested much time in learning Japanese for communication and delivering the meaning of the lyrics of their songs.”
Now, let’s wait and see what the talented, all-ready group with ethereal voice will achieve in Japan.
