NEW YORK TIMES: BIG BANG, SMOOTH K-POP CRIMINALS…BUT ONLY ON VIDEO, BRING ‘MADE’ TO NEWARK
In the elaborate, stylish video trailer for Big Bang’s new tour, this K-pop megastar boy band appears in its own highly stylized Tarantino flick, full of screeching cars, curvaceous women dancing in dimly lit spaces and threats of imminent violence. It’s safe to say that won’t be replicated onstage when the tour comes to the Prudential Center in Newark on Oct. 10 and 11. Partly that’s because onstage, Big Bang is more theatrical than moody, and partly because several of the group’s recent singles — songs like “We Like 2 Party” and “Loser” — are notably more mellow than its hyperkinetic early work.
Those new songs mark the end of a three-year hiatus for Big Bang and are part of the roll-up to its forthcoming album, “Made” (YG). This tour takes its name from that album and may also be the last time the full Big Bang five perform as a unit before, one by one, they enlist for mandatory South Korean military service. Note: “뚱” (Ddung) means “hippo” or could relate to a Korean cartoon character, or “뚱뚱” means “fat”. So, T.O.P is making the joke/comment that he is being “fat” for eating Shake Shake at 1am.
ACTRESS TILDA SWINTON MENTIONS G-DRAGON
Famous British actress, Tilda Swinton visited South Korea.
At the 20th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) held in the South Korean port city of Busan, she expressed, “I’m very, very happy. World cinema is my playground”, reports Yonhap news.
Dispatch also reported, when Swinton was asked which Korean actor she would like to have a love line with, many were surprised when she picked G-Dragon. She expressed, “I believe that he is a movie star”.
Swinton and G-Dragon both attended the Karl Lagerfield 2015 Chanel 2015 Cruise Collection in Seoul on the 4th of May. Both also attended the same event held in Paris, France where she was spotted posing for the camera with G-Dragon and Kanye West (as seen on photo above).
Tilda Swinton stars in the movie, “The Bigger Splash” which she promoted at the BIFF.
