Shinhwa’s Minwoo is upset that Eric also uses height-boosting insoles for his shoes

It’s recently been revealed that Shinhwa‘s leader and one of the taller members of the group, Eric, also uses “ggalchang” (insoles that help boost height) in his shoes.
Shinhwa guest-featured on the April 30th episode of KBS 2TV‘s ‘Hello‘ to share some of their own stories, as well as taking the time to listen to the concerns of the public.
Member Minwoo was asked if he had any concerns as of late, and the singer revealed that fellow member Eric uses ggalchang in his shoes.
I was looking at all of our shoes when I thought a specific pair with ggalchang in them were mine,” Minwoo remarked. “But the shoes actually belonged to Eric. I asked why he would even use these, when he’s over 180 cm tall.
I asked my stylist, what Dongwan and I were supposed to do then,” Minwoo blurted, expressing his frustrations as Eric and Jun Jin are the taller members of the group, while Minwoo and Donghwan are the shortest.
Minwoo then revealed that Eric offered an off-the-wall explanation for his insoles, saying, “These are the shoes of an actor,” causing the audience members laugh at Eric’s absurd explanation. MC Lee Young Ja then examined Eric’s shoes for herself, and sure enough, she was able to find the insoles in his shoes.

’1 Night 2 Days’ faces low viewer ratings due to lack of a new episode

The latest episode of KBS‘s variety show, ‘1 Night 2 Days‘ saw a major drop in viewer ratings.
According to AGB Nielsen, the 29th broadcast of ‘Happy Sunday’, which is a 2 hour block of programming consisting of ’1N2D’ and ‘Qualifications of Men’,  recorded a measly 9% in viewership ratings.  This is a significant difference when compared to the previous week, which drew in 15.3% when ’1 Night 2 Days’ aired a new episode.
Due to the ongoing KBS labor union strikes and lack of original episodes, KBS was forced to air older episodes (even airing episodes from 2007) as well as highlight reels.  This week’s “special” faced extremely low ratings, mostly caused by the lack of new material.
Meanwhile, in the same time slot, SBS‘s ‘Good Sunday‘ (a block of programming that includes the popular ‘Running Man‘ and ‘Laws of the Jungle 2‘ shows) recorded 14.9% and grabbed first place among competitors.  MBC‘s ‘Our Sunday Night’ recorded 1.9% for ‘Exploration of Genders’ and 8.2% for  ’I Am a Singer 2‘.

J.Y. Park reveals his standards for selecting JYP Entertainment trainees

Singer and producer J.Y. Park revealed his standards for selecting trainees for JYP Entertainment.
On the April 30th episode of SBS ‘Healing Camp‘, J.Y. Park revealed, “My standards for selecting a ‘K-POP STAR’ winner are different from my standards for selecting a trainee.
I like the hopefuls who are natural, who cannot hide their real selves,” he continued. “Those types always stand out to me. I tend to select the ones that I can’t help but like even when just looking at them.”
That’s why none of our artists do well on variety shows,” he added. “Jo Kwon is an exception, but if you get to know him, he’s actually really sensitive and introverted.”
There may be artists under JYP Entertainment who are lacking when it comes to vocal talent, but none of them seem unnatural,” he said, displaying his pride in his disciples.
J.Y. Park also revealed the well-organized lifestyle he has maintained for the past 17 years, as well as a behind-the-scenes story about Yang Hyun Suk.

SHINee’s Minho selects Super Junior’s Eunhyuk as his stingiest senior

SHINee‘s Minho selected Super Junior‘s Eunhyuk as the label mate who never buys him food.
At the ‘I AM‘ Showcase held in Seoul on April 30th, Minho was asked which hyung is most uptight with their money, never treating him to a meal.
Minho answered, “In the case of my Super Junior and TVXQ seniors, there are hyungs that I am close with and hyungs that I am less close with. But there is always that hyung that never buys me food, despite us being really close.”
When asked who in particular he was referring to, Minho continued, “Well he’s seated in the very first row, and his hairstyle stands out amongst the rest. He is also wearing something on his face, and kind of looks like a monkey.”
By this time, everyone figured it was Eunhyuk, and Minho continued to say, “I’m younger so of course I could first ask him to buy me dinner, but as a hyung, he’s never once made an offer.”
Eunhyuk then defended himself by hilariously saying, “You know, I am his hyung, but there are people you want to buy food for and people you don’t really want to buy food for. Minho is taller than I am, and he appears to eat better than I do. He eats well without me having to buy him anything,” which caused everyone to burst into laughter.
When asked who he likes to buy food for, Eunhyuk answered, “I buy myself a lot of things. I properly manage my own self,” continuing the laughs on set.”
